What is the difference between Lymphocytes and Leukocytes?

Leukocyte is another name for white blood cells, while lymphocytes are types of white blood cells. Basically, all lymphocytes are leukocytes. However, not all leukocytes are lymphocytes. Leukocytes can be divided into two.

This depends on the presence of granules in the cytoplasm. Granulocytes and agranulocytes. The granulocytes of three different types can be found in the blood; they include neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils. Agranulocytes include monocytes and lymphocytes.

The lymphocytes are found in the agranulocytes; it is composed of T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes, and a null group that contains killer cells and cytotoxic cells. Leukocytes are involved in both innate and adaptive immunity during host defense, while lymphocytes are involved in adaptive immunity during the defense.

The significant difference between leukocytes and lymphocytes is that leukocytes are a type of blood cell that is colorless and spread through blood and body fluids. In contrast, lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell that are agranulocytes. Leukocytes are also referred to as white blood cells, and they embody less than one percent of the cells in human blood.

They are larger than erythrocytes and contain nuclei inside the cell body. Leukocytes are also present in the interstitial fluid and blood plasma since they can travel out of blood capillaries through intercellular spaces in the liquid. Lymphocytes come from lymphoid stem cells, and these cells contain receptor proteins on their surfaces that can recognize specific antigens. Lymphocytes are mostly responsible for carrying out crucial immune responses in humans.

Lymphocytes are known to be white blood cells that can make sure that the immune system will be fighting all of the foreign objects that may enter the body that may eventually turn into other diseases. There are different types of lymphocytes that are available and they are all working towards making sure that the body will stay healthy.

Leukocytes, on the other hand, is a term that is used to describe the white blood cells that can be found in WBC exams and tests. This will be the term used in order to describe the number of white blood cells that can be found in a certain amount of blood. This should be in the normal levels because high white blood cell count can signify an infection.
