Able and Ible are mostly used as suffixes. Suffixes are letters or words that are added to the end of a word to alter the word's meaning. Most times, people don't know how these suffixes are used together with other words. In fact, the main difference between the two suffixes is to know the right words that can be added with the two words. Able, apart from being a suffix to other words, it also has other meanings. When using able as a suffix, it is mostly used together with root words that are already in their complete forms.

For example: Adaptable as a new word can be gotten when you add the complete root word 'adapt' with able. You can't get the same meaning if you add the word 'adapt' with the suffix 'ible.' This shows that ible is used mostly for root words that are incomplete. To understand this better, you can use this explanation for other words that have 'able' and 'ible' as suffixes.
