Halal and Kosher are terms used in dairy and meat. They are used most times to give guidelines on what can and cannot be consumed by some people. The guidelines are used mostly by religion practitioners.

Halal is used mostly by the Muslims, which means lawful or permitted. Halal in Arabic means lawful or permissible. It is mostly used to show the dietary meat that is permissible to consume.

Halal was derived from the Quran. Animals must be slaughtered by a Muslim, and prayer must be said to be slaughter While Kosher is used to refer to food or meat that can be consumed by the Kashrut, also known as the Jewish dietary law.

Kosher is also used for other things permissible by the Jews. Kashrut which means proper and fit in Hebrew. The root of Kosher is the Torah. An animal to be consumed must be slaughtered by a Jew, and before the slaughter, they say a blessing.

Kosher and Halal are both ritual laws used by both Jews and Muslims. While the two terms are similar in some ways, most especially in terms of meaning, there are, however, some differences between the two. One of the major differences between the two words is that Kosher is a term commonly used by Jews, while Halal is an Arabic term.

In terms of meaning, both terms are the same; they mean something permissible, fit, or proper. The religious activities that surround the usage of the two terms is another difference. For instance, Kosher, which can also be regarded as a food law, allows Jews to pray only on the first and last animals when slaughtering them.

In contrast, Muslims are religiously bound to call the name of God on every animal to be slaughtered. In Kosher, animals can only be slaughtered by a Rabbi known as the Sachet. In contrast, Halal allows the slaughtering of the animal to be done by any adult Muslim.

Kosher and Halah are two types of food laws that different religions follow. Kosher are laws followed by Jews, while Halah are food laws followed by Muslims. One thing that they share is that both laws prevent the people from eating pork.

Along with pork, the Kosher law prevents people from eating animals on land that have scales, shellfish, and birds of prey. The halah law allows the people to eat a whole animal. When it comes to the Kosher law, they are able to eat all parts of the animal except the hind quarters. Related to drinking, halah prohibits intoxication, but in Kosher law it is okay to drink wine.

Some may assume that kosher and halal are the same, but actually, these are two different things. Halal is known to be the type of food or even activity that Muslims can participate in. They believe that only those that are halal approved can be used or eaten because these items have already been blessed and accepted by Allah.

Kosher, on the other hand, is something that is considered to be “fit” or “proper,” depending on what the Hebrews believe in. A lot of people take their religion very seriously because they honestly believe that this will help them. Take note that Kosher and Halal can be used to describe other things that may not be related to food.
