IUD is a T-shaped gadget that is placed up into the uterus of the woman. The IUD is not the most common birth control method, of course, as the pill remains the preferred option. It is also not always recommended for those women who may want to start a family one day, as IUD can cause infertility after using it for the five years or so it is fashioned in the uterus.

Another disadvantage of IUD is that it may cause more prolonged and more uncomfortable periods. The IUS, on the other hand, works the same, as it is also fitted effortlessly into the uterus. However, the significant difference between the two is that it releases the hormone progesterone. The hormone released from the device and into the woman is the same as the natural hormone.

Women who have this device inserted in them tend to have shorter and less painful periods than those on which IUD tend to have. It is crucial to keep in your way of thinking that while both are reputable forms of birth control, neither protects you against sexually transmitted diseases.

IUD or intrauterine device birth control is a birth control method that involves the insertion of a T-shaped device into the uterus of a woman. The IUD is one of the most popular birth control methods in the world, though there are better contraceptives compared to the IUD. In the United States, the IUD is not commonly used since there are other better options. A lot of people go for this because it is not expensive. Another reason is because of its effectiveness, and it can last up to five years. However, this method of birth control won’t stop you from contracting STDs. The Intrauterine System or IUS birth control also uses a similar device like the IUD. However, the difference between the IUD and IUS is that the latter releases a hormone. The hormone released by the IUS is the same as the hormone known as Progesterone. Just like the IUDs, the IUSs won’t protect you from contracting STDs.

There are different IUDs that are available, and it can be confusing to know their differences from one another. If in case you are not familiar with what an IUD is, this is something that you can use instead of birth control so that you can stop yourself from getting pregnant. The normal IUD does not come with hormones, but the IUD birth control will come with hormones that will supposedly prevent you from getting pregnant. Take note that there are different types of IUDs that are available. A Mirena can work for up to 5 years. There are also some that can be effective for ten years. It would depend on you which one you would like to use.
