There is a popular saying that too much of everything is very dangerous. This means there are some health risks which we might likely experience when we sleep too much. Just as there are health problems that are generated when you don't have a normal length of sleep, sleeping too much can also generate some health conditions. When you sleep too much, you are just opening yourself to different kinds of heart-related diseases, and the risk is higher in women compared to men.

Sleeping too much can increase the level of fat you have in your body, and in no time, you'll be struggling with your weight. When you sleep too much, you won't have time for exercise. As a result, the rate at which you're burning off your calories will be very low. Also, sleeping too much can increase your sugar level, and in no time, you'll become a diabetic patient.

Many people do not know to take there is something called “oversleeping”, if you sleep for more than 9 hours, it is termed oversleeping. If you keep oversleeping for a long period of time, it can have negative effects on your health. Research has shown that spending more time in bed directly influence risk factors for many medical conditions. Sleeping too much has been linked to a higher risk of diabetes, heart disease, cognitive impairment, depression, obesity, stroke, and a greater risk of dying from a medical problem.

Oversleeping can be a symptom of a sleep disorder such as narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and idiopathic hypersomnia. It could also be a result of a medical condition, use of certain medication, or the abuse of a substance.
