What is the traditional Kwanzaa clothing?

Wearing traditional African clothing through the classic African garb can be worn annually. Most people wear it during the seven days of Kwanza or at the Kwanza feast of Karamu. By wearing these lavish garments, the African American community can celebrate their heritage together as one big family. Some examples of these items of clothing include a kaftan, which is a simple dress made up of two typical panels sewn together.

Most of the time, it doesn't have sleeves. Kaftans are generally available in primary colors with embellishments and graphics on them. The men can wear a dashiki over simple black pants. The dashiki is a traditional African shirt that features hand-painted emblems around the neck. Women may also be seen in a dashiki, as long as it is paired with a traditional skirt.

One of the things that distinguish Kwanzaa from other kinds of secular holidays is that Kwanzaa is more or less a traditional event that seeks to promote African-American culture, but it is mostly celebrated by Africans in the United States. Because of the nature of the event, people are usually encouraged to celebrate Kwanzaa with their traditional wears in order to promote African culture. Women are generally encouraged to celebrate Kwanzaa with a special dress known as kaftan, while men are to appear in a dashiki, a special type of dress commonly worn in West Africa.

Different kinds of programs and activities are always used for this celebration. African culture will be promoted through music, dance, art, meal, and other areas. Kwanzaa is a seven-day event starting from December 26 to January 1. Kwanzaa is known for its seven principles; the observers of the event are expected to treat those principles one after the other.
