Fireworks, champagne, and a special kiss at midnight are among all of the traditional ways to trumpet in the New Year. Most people love to ring in the New Year with family and friends, and others prefer to go to travel to the big apple for a huge party. Watching the crystal ball drop- in Times Square, whether in person or on television, never gets mundane for the crowds or the viewers who turn on their TV eagerly anticipating the official start of the New Year.

Since 1907, New York City has held the ultimate celebration, which is in Times Square. There are musical performances, party favors, and fireworks. The big shiny ball that drops is covered in Waterford crystals that make it glitter. The most popular tradition remains the countdown to midnight.
