Unfortunately, there is no way to get out of sleep paralysis. This is why sleep paralysis can be very scary. A person that is experiencing it is able to see everything that is going on, but they are unable to get out of the state. This state, known as sleep paralysis, is described as the transition from being asleep to waking up.

The person going through it can feel everything that is going on, but they are unable to move, to speak, or to get out of the state. There is no cure for this, nor is there any treatment to help one prevent this from occurring.

There are no known treatments for sleep paralysis; most times, physicians diagnose and treat an underlying medical condition such as narcolepsy, panic disorder, Post-traumatic stress disorder to improve quality of sleep. Also, patients are assisted on how to improve their sleep schedules and maintain a better bedtime routine. Make sure you are getting enough sleep, try stress-relieving exercises. You can also try new bed positions. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine and drug use at least 3 hours to bedtime In extreme cases, doctors may prescribe a low dose of antidepressants for patients. This will help suppress certain parts of REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep to help decrease the symptoms.

You just need to wait it out so that you can get out of sleep paralysis. The problem with this condition is no matter how hard you try; you just cannot get out unless you are able to break free from the “spell” that sleep paralysis has given you. There are some things that you can do, though, so that you can reduce the chances that you will suffer from sleep paralysis.

For example, you can try to sleep more. When you improve your sleeping habits, you are giving yourself a chance to recover from the condition. You can also try to get yourself checked if you may have other underlying conditions that are worsening your present condition.

There are certain precautions you can take before sleep to possibly prevent sleep paralysis. Also, there are measures you can follow to bring yourself out of it when you awaken from sleep. The first and most prominent bit of advice is to make sure that your environment is conducive to sleep. Everyone is different in terms of what relaxes them and helps them drift off into safe slumber. Some people even like to leave the light on when they sleep.

Figure out what works best for you and then take action to enable it. Next, try new sleeping positions, which is especially true if you sleep on your back. For those who experience sleep paralysis and need to come right out of it, try counting sheep. Keeping your mind busy is very important at this time. You can practice deep breathing exercises, or you could also wiggle your fingers and toes and circle your feet.

People who experience sleep paralysis may get out from the paralysis in a span of a few seconds to a few minutes. During sleep paralysis, you may feel that you are unable to speak even though you have a sense of being fully awake. You cannot move even if you try. There are also some people who say that they have encountered the sleep paralysis demon countless times.

It can be enough to make people become anxious about this. Those who have it would usually experience it in a recurring manner. There is no treatment available in order to improve this condition. You can get out of sleep paralysis on your own, although it may take a long time.
