There are some people who think that nit eggs and dandruff are the same because they may look similar at times, especially when dandruff looks very small and round. Nit eggs are lain by lice, and if they are left unattended, they will hatch and also become head lice.

The time will come when the whole head can be infested, and this is not something that you want to happen. There are different shampoos that are available that may prevent this from happening. Dandruff flakes are caused by the flaking of the scalp, probably because it is too dry. The nit eggs will stay on the hair while dandruff will easily fall from the hair.

The main distinction between nits and dandruff is their origin. Nits are the eggs of lice, which is a type of parasite bugs that live in the hair and feed on human blood. On the other hand, dandruff is dead skin cells that are often caused by a specific ailment but also result in itchiness and flakes in the colors of white and yellow. Nits are prospective lives of lice and generations of parasites, while dandruff is dead remnants of the skin.

Nits are difficult to eliminate from the head, particularly at the hair shaft. Nits are fastened to the hair shaft by a glue-like substance that is secreted by lice to affix themselves. This substance cannot be detached even with the force of water. However, dandruff is easy to remove by shaking it off, brushing, and using shampoo to control dandruff.
