The greatest common factor (GCF) is the largest number shared between two elements of a numerable and infinite set called integers. This means that when broken down into their lowest multiples, the largest number shared is their greatest common factor. A number which must be able to be divided by itself and one is called a Prime number. The lowest common factor (LCM), in contrast, is such that when the multiples of the two numbers are listed out individually.

The smallest number shared is regarded as their lowest common factor. This number must carry the ability to be divided by itself, one and any other multiples, and perhaps another multiple shared by the two numbers (that is composite numbers). So, in essence, the major difference between the greatest common factor GCF and the Lowest Common Factor LCM is that the earlier is concerned with what number is able to divide into two even numbers while the latter is based upon what lowest number is shared by the two numbers and can be divided by them both

GCF means Greatest Common Factor and LCM stands for Lowest Common Multiple. These are arithmetic fractions in mathematics. This arithmetic function is taught in high school maths. LCM and GCF can be calculated in different forms. GCF refers to the highest number that exists on the multiplication table of the integer numbers. GCFs are usually prime numbers.

That is numbers that can only be divided by itself and 1. LCM refers to the smallest number that is shared by two integers. This number is on the multiplication table of both numbers. LCMs are usually composite numbers that are the number can be divided by itself, another multiple and 1. This other multiple is shared between the integers. Hope you find this information helpful..

The meanings of these two are different from each other. GCF is also called Greatest Common Factor while LCM means Least Common Multiple. GCF normally looks for the number that can be divided evenly into two numbers. LCM looks for a number that is shared between the integers.

The GCF is normally a prime number while the LCM should be a composite number. There are different processes that people can do to find the LCM and the GCF but these are normally easy so students usually like solving for these two because the process is not as complicated as the other math equations that people have to do.

GCF and LCM are the two Math terms you have encountered in your life. These might be the Math skills you will need as an adult. GCF or Greatest Common Factor is the greatest real number that two or more numbers have in common. The GCF must be a prime number that is why it is important to break down the factors of the numbers needed to get the GCF from.

GCF and LCM are the two Math terms you have encountered in your life. These might be the Math
A sample would be getting the GCF of 14 and 49. The factors of 14 are 2 and 7, while 49 has the factors of 7 and 7. The GCF of 14 and 49 would be 7. LCM or Least Common Multiple is the integer in which two or more numbers share in their multiple lists. The LCM of 3, 10, and 20 would be 60 as when you list all their multiples (3 = 3, 6, 9… 60; 10 = 10, 20, … 60; 20 = 20, 40, 60) 60 would be the their least common multiple.
