Work equates to the amount of energy transferred when doing something. Power corresponds to how quickly the energy is transferred. Work is quantified in joules, whereas power is measured in watts. An object can have value for power without doing any work.

Power describes the rate of energy transfer, whereas work describes the amount of energy transferred by force acting through a distance. It is the aggregate of energy consumed per unit time. If an object does any work, the power cannot be zero. Both of these concepts are imperative in fields such as engineering, physics, thermodynamics, and human biology.
