Both religions were built on the works of one man, with Islam beginning 600 years after Christianity. There are several significant differences between Christianity and Islam religions. First, Islam believes Mohammad was a prophet, while Christianity believes Jesus was the son of God. Second, the central literature for Christianity is the Bible, which consists of the Hebrew Bible and The New Testament. The original writing for Islam is The Qur'an (sacred text) and Hadith (tradition). Third, Islamic religion practices include no pork or alcohol, fasting, Ablutions before prayer, and keeping their head covered before worship. The month of Ramadan is a significant holiday, and worship is on Fridays. Christian traditions include church on Sundays, baptism, bible study and worship on holidays, such as Christmas, Easter, Lent, and Holy Week. Christians generally practice worship in churches. Islamic religions usually practice worship in a Mosque. Women in Islam are considered oppressed because their faith says they must cover their head and faces.
