The primary purpose of the digital signature is to secure a document so that it is not meddled with by people without the authority to sign. An electronic signature is mainly used to confirm a document. The source of the document and its authors are identified. A digital signature is used to secure a document, and a digital signature is approved and regulated by certification authorities. An electronic signature is not usually authorized.

Primary examples of electronic signatures include verbal, electric ticks or scanned signatures. Digital signatures are usually preferred due to high levels of authenticity. Electronic trademarks are more comfortable to use, but they are also less authentic.

When I was younger, it was very difficult to sign a paper and send it back to someone. Just a few years ago, I had to print out the paper and sign it. Then I had to either make a copy of it and mail it through the US postal service to the place where it should go. Another way was to fax the paper to the place. Later, I could scan it in and email it to the person.

Now, I can sign my documents online without having to print or scan anything. I can do an electronic signature or sign it digitally. There is a difference between a digital signature and electronic signature. Electronic signature often contained a symbol that represented the person’s signature. A digital signature is much more authentic.
