Hoarding refers to a process whereby someone keeps a particular item or items for a particular purpose. There are several purposes why people hoard; nevertheless, hoarding is usually done for future purposes. Some hoard items or goods that are forecast to be more scarce and expensive in the nearer future so that they can keep it for their own use or to sell at a higher price. Some hoard as a result of a disaster occurring so that they can prepare for the time of scarcity during or shortly after the disaster.

However, laziness, likewise hoarding, keeps the house messy. But, on the other hand, laziness is a behavior that ignores responsibility, though there is the capability to take on the responsibility. Laziness seems to stay longer on the possessor, if not through a lifetime, unlike hoarding, which is just for a while. Hoarding is for a purpose, while laziness is purposeless. Laziness is unhealthy to the possessor, while hoarding can be of benefit to the hoarder.

People who don’t clean because they are hoarders are a lot different from people who don’t clean because they are lazy. People who hoard have some sentimental attachment to things that they refuse to throw away. It is part of having obsessive-compulsive disorder. People who compulsively hoard experience a range of symptoms concerning their behavior.

Among these include extreme anxiety, doubting, checking, and reassurance seeking. Both Hoarding and Laziness might seem like two different words that do not have any similarity. However, a critical look into the meaning of the two words will inform about the same possible result they generate. Hoarding is a word which can be used in various contexts. Hoarding can be seen as a form of behavior which is reflected in a man, when the person is busy stockpiling materials probably for future use. A person living in this manner will tend to be keeping almost everything he has with the belief that they will be useful one day, and this leads to a situation whereby the house is filled with a lot of unused materials.

Hoarding is a form of business strategy for businessmen, in which they stockpile commodities that are scarce for the time they will need in high demand so as to have more profit. Laziness, on the other hand, is just part of human characteristics, in which a person deliberately ignores or postpone what he needs to do at a moment to another time. Procrastination causes laziness at times.
