There are some people who may get confused with having upper respiratory tract infection and bronchitis. Upper respiratory tract infection may be caused by viruses. When you have a cold, this means that you have upper respiratory tract infection. When you have problems with your lower respiratory tract, this may mean that you have bronchitis or pneumonia.

Lower respiratory tract infections are considered to be more serious as compared to upper respiratory tract infection. It is possible for people to have both lower and upper respiratory tract infections at the same time. It is best for a person to get a lot of rest in order to recover.
