Claustrophobia is an anxiety disorder which usually results to an irrational and intense fear of enclosed or confined spaces. This condition is one of many popular phobias people do have. It becomes practically impossible for a claustrophobic person to stay, walk through a narrow place like tunnel, subway and enclosed place like a locked room.

The person might decide to make use of stairs in a building that has elevator. Those with this condition tend to feel like losing control. Claustrophobia is very common all over the world making 5-7 percent of the entire population of the world. And the rate of women with this condition is always twice that of men.

However, the population of people with claustrophobia in the United States is estimated to be up to 5 percent of their entire population. While the population of those with claustrophobia in UK is about 10 percent of their entire population which is twice that of the Americans.
