The closed off attitude of the Islamic people for sure contributes to Islamophobia. If they were not so shrouded in secrecy, they would not be so mysterious and could be better understood. The more that is understood about any given nation or religion, the more the unmwarranted fears of them can be squashed. But, Islamic people as a rule are very closed off so it is not easy to learn more about them. This makes matters worse.
They are not helping matters by not coming forward to explain some of the things they do and their principals. So yes, their secret nature definitely adds to the problem. If they worked with others on demystifying things, everything would be better and Islamophobia might become a thing of the past for the most part.
