There are many chemicals that are responsible for soil pollution. Soil errosion is one result of these chemicals. Also, the soil becomes toxic which affects our water, plants, and animals and makes for very serious health problems. Chemicals in fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, petroleum hydrocarbons, lead, nitrate, ammonia, naphthalene, and mercury are the biggest contributers to soil pollution. They are toxic and the poison is passed down through ingestion which causes all sorts of medical problems like cancer.

People are not fully aware of the impact through and often don't even know what the source behind their illnesses are. This is a huge problem. Awareness can help greatly so people know how to avoid this issue such as by going organic which means no chemicals were used in the growing or processing of the food. Still, buying organic costs more and some are not willing to pay higher prices and others simply cannot afford to so soil pollution remains a huge risk for all.
