The Amazon river is known to be the largest river in the world by the discharge of water. It is also considered the second in length (although this is disputed by some people).
The Amazon river flows through Guyana, Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Peru. The length is approximately 6,400 kilometers or 4,000 miles. During the wet periods, the river can be about 190 kilometers or 120 miles in width. These are measurements that are common knowledge and they are important facts about the Amazon river. There is no other river of such magnitude and claim as this one.
