There are so many devices which can be used to measure the speed of an object. For objects that move in the air like aircraft, a particular device known as the pilot tube is used. For ships, there are different instruments that can be used to measure their speed. However, a popular device is speedometer. The speedometer is used mostly in vehicles. With speedometer, you can easily know the speed with which you are moving.

Your speed can only be constant if you can maintain the same speed, but it is not always constant because there will be a need for you to increase or reduce your speed. Through speedometer, the speed of a moving car is measured either in kilometers per second or miles per second. However, the speed of an object can be calculated mathematically by using this formula; Speed= distance/time. If a vehicle moved by 9 meters in 3 minutes, the speed of the vehicle is 3 m/s.

Speed can be determined mathematically. By taking the time traveled and the length of distance to the desired location, they are divided by. Distance by time gives you the rate of speed traveled. Today there are devices that will clock how fast an object is moving. Law enforcement personnel and others use a device called a speedometer to capture the rate of speed in which an object or person is moving.

These are routinely used, however, they must be calibrated to maintain their proper calculations. Mathematics is still used consistently to track and determine the rates of speed. For instance, there is not a speedometer in space to calculate how fast certain objects are moving. These are watched via a telescope or satellite and then using a sophisticated calculator, the speeds and measurements are estimated.
