There are many observatories in the world with telescopes in them. Scientists and people interested in planets may go to the observatory to use their telescopes. One of the biggest telescopes in the world is called the Gran Telescopio Canarias and is actually the largest on earth. It is over thirty feet in width. It is located on the Canary Island. The Canary Islands is located in Spain.

To think, design and build this telescope, it took almost one thousand people to come together and get this telescope to a finished product. These people came from one hundred different countries. The telescope stands very tall and would be difficult to identify as a telescope if you should stumble upon it.
