Mounts are often purchased when someone purchases a telescope because they need to place the telescope on something in order to get it to work. Telescopes are not light in weight; they are quite heavy. People couldn’t work the telescope by holding it in their hands. They really need to have something hold onto it. This is where mounts come in. There are different types of mounts depending upon the type of telescope that you have.

The mount appears to look like a tripod like what a camera is placed on. The telescope slides into the opening and stays put on the mount. People should be careful when buying a mount because not all mounts are the same. Also, people should consider the amount of money to spend on a mount when purchasing a telescope.
