How long has satire existed in society?

Satire has existed for hundreds of years. It is not a popular genre like short story and poetry, but it has been around for a really long time. It was first introduced during the 16th century when it was first documented in a written piece. It is hard to believe that people were making fun of others in writing during the 16th century, but they did.

Satire has changed throughout the years by including political cartoons where a political figure or event is made fun using graphics. Many people find satire or satirical information funny because the author does poke fun at something. The brunt of the joke is usually not laughing. Therefore, satire has existed in society for almost four hundred years.
