An example that most people have experienced air resistance is when they are on a roller coaster. When the roller coaster reaches its peak and then goes down very quickly, the passenger feels the air against their face. The air they feel is air resistance. Another example is parachutes flying in the air.

Air resistance is the force that slows down a man falling out of a plane with a parachute, which fills with air causing air resistance. When the man falls out of the airplane and through the air, the atmosphere is packed with gas molecules that someone must move through to get down to earth.

Air resistance is comparable to the same way that water pushes against your body when you’re in a swimming pool. When a force pulls on something, it makes the object move more and more quickly; however, a man with the parachute has air resistance to keep it from hitting the ground at top speed.
