When a network administrator is configuring the router so that external clients can access the web server over the Internet, the IP NAT inside source command is needed to link the inside local and inside global addresses.

Network Address Translation (NAT) allows private IP internetworks that use non registered IP addresses to connect to the Internet. Privacy and security measures should also be considered as with any situation where outside access is being given to an inside network, to prevent hacking and other malicious behavior. There are also restrictions for configuring NAT for best practices.
