If you intend to prevent a child from obtaining access to your gun, you should know first that there is a legal way to do it. It would be best if you put the handgun in a locked container unloaded. Hiding a loaded handgun is not a legally acceptable way to prevent children from getting to it.

Children might be able to unlock a loaded gun, which is not safe and can cause a tragedy. A safety lever/device on a handgun does not guarantee that the firearm will not fire. It would be safest if you protect yourself and others against the misuse of your gun.

Ammunition should be meticulously locked up separately from firearms. You must follow these extremely important safety rules, or you or someone else may be injured or killed.

No, this isn't the most accurate way to prevent children from gaining access to it. Naturally, children are curious and want to discover new experiences; the best instruction about your being in possession of loaded guns around kids is not to keep one.

Nevertheless, if you possess one due to your job or security reasons. There are certain steps that can be taken to keep everyone secure.

Ensure to unload your gun before storing it

Purchase a gun safe that has both lock and combination backup; in order to open the safe, there will be a need for the dual process.

Ensure that bullets are not in the same room as the gun.

Make sure you don't show the gun in the presence of the kids due to the fact that it could make them inquisitive.

In conclusion, to avoid accidents which involve shooting themselves or others, never keep a loaded gun.

The correct answer to this question is false. If you happen to have a gun in the household around children, the gun should not be loaded. The reason for this is because children can easily get into anything. Even if it is locked, a child can still find a way to get into it. If they do happen to get access to the gun and it is loaded, and they are playing with it, anything can happen. They could accidentally shoot someone in the home or, worst accidentally shoot themselves. This is why the best course of action in the household is to never have a loaded gun.

Children are, by nature, inquisitive and want to learn about new things. The best advice about keeping a loaded gun around children in any circumstance is not to have one; however, if you have one because of your job or you feel you must have one in your home, there are some things you can do to keep everyone safe.

• Buy a gun safe with a lock and combination back up so that there is a double process for opening the safe.

• Keep your gun unloaded

• If it is a gun with a clip, keep the clip in a separate location away from the weapon.

• Make sure ammunition is not in the chamber

• Buy a gun lock that fits in the trigger guard so that the trigger cannot be pulled

• Buy a cable that can be inserted through the chamber so it will not slide.

• The safe that locks can be bolted to something and opens with a fingerprint, key, combination.

• Do not display the gun in front of the children because this will again make them curious.

This is false. The best way that a gun can be kept safe from children is to make sure that it isn’t loaded. How many times have children accidentally hurt themselves or other people because they were able to fire a loaded gun? It can also help if the safety of the gun will not be removed.

A lot of children will not know how to remove this unless they are taught by their parents. There are just too many accidents that have occurred because children thought that they were still playing. Playing with a loaded gun is always unsafe especially when it is children who are handling the guns.
