Dot matrix printers are still in use and still available to buy. The computer printing using this kind of printer collects dot matrix, data and sends this to a printer. Each character is made up by an arrangement of these tiny dots tht are invisible to the naked eye.

The print head moves up and down on the page and strikes an ink soaked cloth ribbon against the paper. It works well on various kinds of paper. Warehouses, offices and banks use these printers regularly.

Dot matrix printers have always been known as the first style of printer that was made compatible with home computers. Innovation in technology have certainly made them a thing of the past but the thing is that dot martix printers are still being used today. Dot martix printers are noted for their impact technology which makes them perfect for writing on carbon copy paper. Companies who regularly write reciepts or have forms that have carbon copy with them would make benefit of a dot matrix printer because the printer would be able to strike hard enough to make the carbon copy and make a solid and clear copy each and every time. Dot matrix printers are also good for use with carbonless paper. Again, the striking power of the dot matrix printer would make it possible for a copy to appear on an attatched piece of paper. There are still alot of companies, especialy small businesses, who take advantage and utilize the features that come along with a dot matrix printer.
