If this is your first time that you have heard of a quark, do not worry because you are not alone. A quark is a small particle that is known to be a part of the matter. The quarks are in charge of combining with other quarks so that they can become hadrons. Quarks are known to be the smallest units of a particle.

It would need about 3 quarks in order to make one neutron and proton stable. It would take more for the other particles that can be found in an atom. There is also another type of quark that can be considered a dairy product that is similar to yogurt.

Quarks are the fundamental building blocks of all particles. Describing them as fundamental particles means the particles do not have a substructure and cannot be split. The first evidence for the existence of quarks was discovered by bombarding protons with electrons in a linear accelerator.

The two most common forms of quarks are the up quark and the down quark. There other 4 other types of quarks and these are called strange, charmed, bottom and top. Each quark type has a different mass, charge and spin. A quark’s charges are fractional and explain why a proton has a plus one charge.
