Anime just has that power that will make people drawn to it. There are a lot of Americans who are familiar with Naruto and they love the series so much that they would gladly recommend it to various people. There is something about anime that can make people watch and listen. Even if they do not like it, they may get drawn to the storyline or the lovable characters.
Some anime lovers are low-key but there are also some who would shout to the world that they just love anime and they are proud of liking it so much. The main series that made a lot of Americans hooked on Anime is actually Astro Boy. The world of anime has not been the same in the United States ever since.
American interest of Japanese animation has gone up exponentially. This is largely due to the increase of people who watch anime or read manga here and then word of mouth about it increases the amount of people who watch it. Anime in the US was not always so popular.
Anime culture actually started as a small, intimate community of fans on the smaller, local scale. A few of the earliest anime to be televised in the United States was Gigantor, Speed Racer and Astro Boy. These shows were originally aired in the 60s.
