The Minnesoata Multi-phasic Personality Inventory is a tool devised by psychologists to assess personality traits and psychopathology. It is a psychometric standardised test primarily used in the field of mental health where it is suspected that an individual has mental health problems.

It can identify social, interpersonal and behavioural issues. The detailed array of results can help the psychiatrist determine a diagnosis and to start to formulate a treatment. In some cases, discussion of the test results is helpful, the patient becoming actively involved with his/her treatent after seeing how the results produce new information for his consideration.
