The citadel library is the largest library in the world so it is possible that almost anything is hidden there. It is even possible for other people to be hidden there. Samwell Tarly certainly believes he will find something here that will help Jon Snow in the battle with the White Walkers.
Just as Samwell discovered that dragonglass can kill White Walkers, I think if he keeps going through the endless source of books he will find more ways to kill White Walkers or find out what makes them vulnerable. The library is so big that it can be an enormous wealth of knowledge for those seeking to kill White Walkers, but also for those trying to help White Walkers.
