Top MBE Flashcards

The Multistate Bar Exam is an intensive test designed to evaluate your competency to practice law in the United States. The exam consists of 200 questions and takes six hours to complete, and students have two opportunities to take it during the year.

The MBE covers 7 subject areas, which should be familiar from your Law School classes: constitutional law, civil procedure, contracts, criminal law, evidence, torts, and property law. The questions on the exam will be evenly distributed amongst these 7 subject areas, so all of them are equally important to study.

The MBE is very different from the LSAT that got you into law school – whereas the LSAT tests general skills of logic and reasoning, the MBE tests much more specific knowledge of actual statutes and case law. Consequently, studying for the MBE is even more important than studying for the LSAT, since the test relies on a combination of memorization and critical reasoning.
