Computed Tomography Questions and Answers (Q&A)

Detector Array allows for much faster data collection than using single detector.
One of the special features of some variable wavelength UV detectors is the ability to perform spectroscopic scanning and precise absorbance readings at a variety of wavelengths while the peak is passing though the flow cell. Diode array contributes a new dimension of analytical capability to fluid chromatography because it allows authentic information to be obtained beyond simple identification by retention time.

There are two major advantages of diode array detection.

• It allows for the best wavelength(s) to be selected for actual analysis. This is particularly important when no information is available on molar absorptivities at different wavelengths.

• The second advantage is related to the problem of Purity in peak. The peak shaping itself does not reveal that it actually tally to two or more components.

To get the voxel dimension is a little tricky. I’m inclined to agree with the answer that Anim gave: 0.29 mm by 0.29 mm by 1.0 mm. The voxel dimensions are hard to pin down. This is because the voxels are not actually plotted on the axis of a piece. Instead, they are more like pixels. They’re usually inferred by a rendering system.

If they’re there, they show up on the screen. If they’re not there, they don’t show up. It’s as simple as that. That said, the answer that might make the most sense was given by Anim. I’m not sure what Adney’s answer is supposed to mean, but it looks very professional. That said, I don’t think it’s right.

The correct answer is option A - Glioblastoma Glioblastoma is the condition that can be visualized in a CT study of the brain. Glioblastoma multiforme is a fast growing brain tumor that affects glial cells – astrocytes and oligodendrocytes in the brain. The mean survival with glioblastoma is about a year is the tumor is highly malignant and it spreads rapidly into brain tissues.

Krukenberg tumor is a tumor of the ovary that arises as a result of metastasis from a primary site most common from gastric adenocarcinoma. This cannot be seen on CT study in the brain. Plasmacytosis is when there ia a large portion of plasma cells in tissues or in the blood. Wilms tumor is a common kidney cancer that is common in childhood.

Insufflation is a procedure where the doctor blows something into a part of the body. It is usually a gas or vapor in order to do a medical procedure. In most cases, it is done in order to inflate that part of the body. Usually, something will be done in surgery and the doctor needs for that part of the body to be inflated in order to do the procedure.

Other reasons for an automatic CO insufflation are for diagnostics and respiratory assistance. There are reasons why this is done with carbon dioxide and it is to lower the risk of perforation insufflation for the CT colonography. Some people think that this is done because it is a cheaper cost or lower the risk of anaphylaxis, but those are not true.

How is this not A? A localizer image is not going to streak like a axial image will. You will see a bright white, dense object in the localizer.
