Are you prepared for VPN issues? This quiz will assess your knowledge and troubleshooting skills surrounding VPN connection technologies used to connect remotely to the Apollo Group network.
Cisco VPN is replacing RSA as Apollo Group's primary VPN solution. Some groups will remain on RSA where the computer is not joined to the Apollo Group domain. Ex: Vendors and Aptimus (School), Athena domain.
Explanation
The VPN membership role determines the level of access granted. NOTE: Single Factor only works with the RSA VPN Solution. Additionally, when using the RSA VPN solution, the user must select the level of access in addition to being granted the specific role.
Apollo uses certificate based authentication to connect using the Cisco VPN solution. NOTE: If the certificate does not exist on the computer (not on the selection list when configuring the connection), the Customer's PC MUST logon to the network at a local office/campus to pull down the cert from the Apollo servers. There is no way, currently, to obtain or transfer to cert to the customer.
Most access is requested through CAP. See Article #:7741
Most likely, they do not have an active internet connection. It is within your scope to assist the customer with turning on the WiFi antenna and/or guiding them through the process of connecting an ethernet/wired connection. However, it is in the customer's best interest to call their ISP for further assistance. TIP: If the customer does not use a Home Network Router, especially, when connecting directly to a cable modem, the customer may need to powercycle the modem to obtain an IP address if it was just connected to anther computer/networked device.
