Uses the name of the author(s) to introduce a quote, pararaphrase or summary of information from a source.
Only requires the name of the source and page numbers in parentheses, nothing else.
Paraphrasing means taking the main ideas from someone else's work and expressing them in your own words.
To paraphrase, simply change a few words from a quote, using a some synonyms.
A paraphrase must be exactly the same as the original source - word for word.
A paraphrase must be accompanied by a parenthetical citation.
Orwell (1948) describes the Ministry of Truth building as "an enormous pyramidal structure" (p. 6).
Big Brother's face "gazed down from every commanding corner" (Orwell, 1948, p. 4).
Winston had "won the victory over himself" (George Orwell, Nineteen Eighty Four, p. 376).
