NARRATOR:  Salt and spices are exotic during the ancient times in Europe. They distinguish the gap between a commoner and an aristocrat or a king. How could that be? Well, salts and spices often come from distant lands like India, Africa and Sri-Lanka. From there on, it will be traveled to Europe making it expensive and hardly unavailable to the people. They also believe that those spices came from heaven. Unlike today wherein they are everywhere, we can even plant them in our backyards. Before, you only see spices like pepper and cinnamon on the table of the kings and queens, aristocrats and   other powerful men before. One more reason why the commoners were not given the privilege to this luxury on taste is because of distances from the rural to the center. And by the way, this time was during the Dark Ages. Narrator: I need you take note for today’s lesson because I will be giving a short test after. Our discussion will be focusing on mutual symbiotic relationship. This is very common with the bees and the flowers. The bees fly from one flower to another in search for nectar and pollen  It will then collect from the flowering plants then travelling back to their hives.  Now, the protein-rich pollen and the energy-rich nectar will be converted into food. Once the bees will be having ample food supplies, their hives will flourish and nurtures. Going back to mutual symbiotic relationship, we all learned from yesterday’s topic that bees have hairy legs and are really dense so as they collect pollen and nectar from flower to flower, they also spread the pollen. Flowers cannot be reproduced unless they have pollen from other flowering plants so with the bees and well the butterflies inadvertently spreading those pollen, thus sustaining the plants reproduction.  Question:  What is mutual symbiotic according to the passage?

Narrator: Greenhouse gases are mainly produced by cars and other vehicles, also the burning of oils and other fossil fuels. And…we must not overlook the gigantic industries and nuclear power plants. What else, inside the households would be burning of plastics and using air conditioners. All of them are contributing in the creation of climate change that is visible worldwide. If you have heard of the latest discovery about hydrogen fuel-cell cars, that are the solution of science to minimize this crisis. And by the way, we commonly call the change as the greenhouse effect. The availability of carbon dioxide, methane, fluorinated gases and nitrous oxide in the atmosphere outweighed the oxygen, thus affecting the balance of nature. Now, going back to one of the proposed solution, though it is one of the possible solutions, it is way expensive and may take time before results are seen because it may take 10-15 years before these cars are produced. So what I want you to do are to research on some of the less costly yet readily available solutions for the greenhouse effect problem.  Question:  What is a greenhouse gas?
