Albuminuria albumin, a protein in the urine. Also called proteinuria (pro teen NOOR ee ah).
Enuresis commonly known as "bed-wetting", enuresis can be nocturnal or diurnal (during the day)
urolithiasis usually forms in patients with excess of the mineral calcium. Also called (urinary calculi) (KAL kyoo lye)
ARF acute renal failure
CRF chronic renal failure
Nephroblastoma Also called Wilms tumor. These tumors develope from kidney cells that did not develope fully before a child's birth. These cancerous tumors of the kidney occur mainly in children
TTC
Transitional Cell Carcinoma of the bladder
malignant tumors that comprise approximately 90% of all bladder cancers and arise from the cells lining the bladder
BUN
Blood Urea Nitrogen
blood test that measures the amount of nitrogenous waste in the circulatory system; an increased level indicator of kidney dysfunction.
CT
Computed Tomography scan
computerized image shows a 'slice' of the body
IVU
Intravenous urography
uses a contrast medium to see kidneys, ureters, and bladder. Also called IVP
KUB
Kidney, Ureter, and Bladder
radiographic imaging without contrast of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder.
VCUG
Voiding Cystourethrography
radiographic imaging of the urinary bladder and urethra done with a contrast medium while the patient is urinating.
CAPD
Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis
type of renal dialysis in which an indwelling catheter in the abdomen permits fluid to drain into and out of the peritoneal cavity to cleanse the blood
HD
Hemodialysis
type of renal dialysis that cleanses the blood by shuting it from the body through a machine for diffusion and ultrafiltration and then returning it to the patient's circulation.
ileal conduit channel, pipe, or tube that guides urine from the ureters to the ileum in the digestive system to be excreted through the large intestine, when the bladder is no longer available for storing the urine and releasing it through the urethra. Also known as (uretheroileostomy) (yoo ree tur oh ill ee AH stuh mee)
