Introduction and Course Overview

Welcome to IWCF CT operation L3 and L4 certification.

The use of coiled tubing (CT) in well intervention operations has grown in the last 20 years due to the development of tools and the quality of tubing materials. This allowed an increase of tubing size and quality and a larger variety of operations.

Coiled tubing units have largely replaced snubbing units for operations on completed wells. The range of services now provided includes:

  • Electric wireline logging and perforating;

  • Stimulation;

  • Fluid displacement;

  • Sand control;

  • Coiled tubing conveyed perforating;

  • Wellbore cleanout;

  • Remedial cementing;

  • Setting and retrieving bridge plugs;

  • Permanent installations;

  • Running packers;

  • Coiled tubing used as flowline;

  • Flow control of horizontal and deviated completions;

  • Fishing.
