Sexual harassment training is a form of compliance training common in organizations of all shapes and sizes. Mandated by federal and state laws, this training is aimed at preventing workplace sexual harassment in any form, including inappropriate remarks, unwanted physical contact, showing pornographic material, and demands for sexual favors.Depending on your state regulations, you may need a 1-hour sexual harassment training course for employees and a 2-hour course for supervisors. In some states, this training is required within six months of an employee joining an organization and then every two years thereafter.

Hi and welcome to this course on preventing sexual harassment in the workplace. 

This course is divided into five sessions:

Introduction to Sexual Harassment

Henry works at a tech firm and is attracted to one of his coworkers, so he asks her out for dinner. Did you know that asking someone out does not constitute sexual harassment? 

She is not interested in him and turns down his offer. This does not deter Henry and he starts sending text messages and emails containing inappropriate content with a sexual overtone.

Did you know that continuing this behavior after being asked to stop constitutes sexual harassment? 

Many of us have experienced or seen cases like these.

How do we know when it's an act of sexual harassment? Is it punishable under the US Federal Human Rights Law?

You will get answers to these questions and more during this session.

Types Of Sexual Harassment

There are two main types of sexual harassment: quid pro quo and hostile work environment. Both are common forms of inappropriate behaviors and can be experienced by a person of any gender. 

In this session, you will learn about each type and look at some scenarios.

Retaliation

Every employee has a right to speak up when they are mistreated, harassed, or have concerns about their safety. If an employer retaliates, it is not only wrong, but illegal.

In this session, we will learn about what retaliation is and what it is not. We will also look at protected activities you may engage in without fear of retaliation.
