This course is addressing the evidenced based physical assessment and treatment of the lumbar spine.  This presentation can benefit physical therapists and physical therapy assistants involved in the recovery of patients with lumbar spine pathology. It will include specifically the epidemiology and prevalence of lumbar spine pathology, the functional anatomy and biomechanics, and the pathophysiology and clinical course of the various lumbar spine pathologies. The proper assessment of the lumbar spine, including: properly conducting motion testing, properly conducting muscular function testing, and outcome measure testing. The evidence on treatment, including: manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, lower quarter mobilization, specific centralizing movement, and traction. In addition, evidenced based treatment based on each specific phase of healing acute, sub-acute, and chronic.
