The primary aim of this Performance Based Navigation (PBN) course is to explain the concept and operating principles of PBN. It will take approximately 3 hours to complete via self study. Once all course material has been studied a progress check is completed and a Course Completion Certificate issued.
Pilots with prior experience of PBN operations can present the Course Completion Certificate directly to an examiner. For pilots with no PBN experience Oysterair will complete a training sortie which will include PBN approahces and contigencies.
In all cases, an IR proficiecy check with a examiner is required in order to add PBN privileges to an EASA instrument rating.
Special thanks go to PPL/IR for allowing the use of their PBN Training Manual.
This manual explains PBN concepts and operating procedures for general aviation. It should be read prior to attempting the progress check.
Full credit & thanks for the use of this manual goes to the PPL/IR group, who are a specialist group aimed at promoting instrument flying. PPL/IR Europe is open to any pilot who is interested in operating light aircraft under IFR in Europe. Please visit www.pplir.org for more information about the group & membership.
This pilot training module meets FAA, EASA & ICAO training guidance for pilots wishing to operate aircraft in RVSM, MNPS & NAT HLA airspace.
