Lobbying hasn't been declared illegal because the very ones who participate in it are the ones making the laws an upholding the laws. It is a full circle of corruption in a legal way. It has been done through the years for so long, it is not only legal but acceptable and expected.
Lobbying is actually just legal bribery but since both parties get what they want, one gets money and the other gets their way, it continues and probably always will. There have been some attempts to stomp it out but those attempts were interceeded by none other than the lawmakers themselves.
So, what has been will be. There is really no way to make all governments just and upright. They never have been and never will be. Money and power will always rule over people and those who don't realize that are the decieved.
Lobbying is regulated by the Federal Lobbying Act of 1946 which is to oversee lobbying so it doesn't get out of hand. Does it do the job? Most people do not think so for those that oversee the group formed by the act can also be persuaded through lobbying. The U.S.
House of Representatives and the Senate is where the laws are created which become policy and regulations. Those policies and regulations are therefore carried out. Lobbyists influence the laws and regulations and are to be regulated by the federal level act. But they really don't seem to be very regulated.
There are ways around everything and this is just one more hurdle for them to cross to basically get their way. It is somewhat of a joke, in other words.
The right to free speech is the first ammendment of the United States Constitution. That right basically gives lobbyists a free ticket because they can just say they are exercising their right to free speech. In some ways, that is true but when their free speech is used to manipulate and get their way within the government with laws and regulations for their own selfish reasons, that's not right.
Sometimes there are good and just causes they represent but more often than not, they have to do with greed and buying power through lobbying. This is where government basically turns corrupt because something that might should be illegal is allowed because of a loophole and that loophole is...the first ammendment.
The way to become a lobbyist is to first of all, attain at least a Bachelor's Degree. If you can get a Masters Degree, that is even better and more influencial. That is a must or you cannot qualify to be one. It is a good idea to have your degree in political science, law, economics or a related field.
If you want to be a lobbyist, you will need to be considered an experts on whatever issues you will be working on. You will need to prove that you know your subject matter and that you are a benefit to the cause or you will get nowhere so you must be persuasive as well. You'll need to be a people person too because there are many people you'll be dealing with. It will be helpful for you to be adamant about the things you are lobbying for because if you are not, it will show but if you are passionate about the causes, that will be apparent as well.
People who are good at lobbying are basically the same type of people who are good in politics and other fields where it is important to use your charm and knowledge in a social way in order to influence people. You'll need to be smart but smart in communicating to others too.
You will need to be persuasive because you'll be trying to talk someone into believing something or going with the cause at hand. You will need to like people and...people will need to like you. If you have a great vibe and good energy about you, that is a big plus as well. The same type of person who people like to listen to and be around are the ones that make the best lobbyists ever.
Jack Abramoff is an American lobbyist. He is also a businessman, accomplished writer and movie producer. He was one of the main lobbyists that were under investigation for being corrupt. When it all came falling down, he was one of 21 people who either pleading guilty or were found guilty. He actually plead guilty as charged.
There were also three leading White House officials who fell along with him - J. Steven Griles and David Safavian and also U.S. Representative Bob Ney. The unraveling of the corruption took America by surprise although it was common knowledge that lobbying was underhanded. To see if out in the open was a bit shocking for some and proves that there is corruption in the act of lobbying at even the top level. .
Lobbyists make a fair amount of money. You are not going to get rich by being one though. They can make around 46,000 per year or up to average $75,000 a year. That's not the big bucks that politicians make but it is decent money to make. The experience and education a lobbyist has behind him is one big factor that determines his pay.
How well he does his job and how effective he is helps to determine it as well. The city a lobbyist works in is another determining factor of how much a lobbyist makes. So, there is a vast paycheck difference in how much a lobbyist makes. What one puts into it is a big judge of how much cash he will get out of it as most things tend to be that way.
Lobbyists have had a bad reputation for being negative or bad people for decades. It seems to just be part of the territory. But, why is that? First off, lobbyig itself is publically percieved as being bad or negative, for the most part. It is associated with bribery although it is legal. Therefore, those who take part in it are seen as negative.
Another reason is that lobbying comes into the spotlight when there is a scandal. Other than that, you don't hear much about lobbyists. The media covers it and lobbyists get publically exposed for dirty deeds. Rarely do you hear a lot about good lobbying or at least it doesn't get the attention that the scandals do. Some lobbying is actually for good causes but you don't hear much about those.
The media isn't set up that way. Lobbying is thought of as being a dark deed and those who take part are not seen as positive, aboveboard people but rather people who live in the shadows, taking advantage of the loophole called lobbying. Thus, they are usually thought of as the bad guys.
A gyroscope is a device that spins around which is actually mounted on an axil in such a way that it is free to move about in a direction which can alter. It spins on an axis. When the mounting tilts, the direction it is spinning in is not affected. That makes it very useful for use in navigation and for giving directions because of its correlation to gravity. It is helpful to pilots and others of the like. The torque plays a big part of the set up as well.
The rotation of the two perpendicular axes that are perpendicular is a result of the applied torque in relationship to the other one when the wheel is spinning. The whole apparatus produces opposition which depends upon the momentum of the angle it is spinning in for the direction it spins in. It is a fairly simple device that offers a world of help when determining direction and navigation.
There is definitely a practical application where a gyroscope is concerned. It is helpful to many when looking for directions. It is a fascinating device that is very simple yet offers a world of navigational use. Air professionals like pilots and even auto pilot mechanisms are helped by the gyroscope.
The spinning wheel can even guide in space because of the gravity force it eximplifies which gives directions. Therefore it is applicable for satellite and space vehicle orientation. The practical applications of such a simple things as a gyroscope is nothing short of amazing.
