Course Description: 2 Hours (.2 CEUs) This course is intended for the physical therapist/ physical therapist assistant who is encountering cardiopulmonary pathologies in their client population. This course will provide a general understanding of cardiopulmonary and physiology. The most prevalent cardiopulmonary pathologies of hypertension, myocardial infarction, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart failure and heart disease will be focused upon. The course will describe the role of physical therapy in addressing these pathologies in the healthcare continuum’s various settings of acute care, home care, cardiac rehab, inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient settings and include the practice of wellness as a physical therapy provider in relation to the cardiopulmonary system. This course will include the highlighting of evidence based objective and standardized measures to guide physical therapy assessment, intervention and client progression.
