What is New York State sexual harassment training?
The New York State sexual harassment training is a training program that complies with federal and state requirements. Both employees and supervisors at all levels and working in the state of New York are required by statute to undergo this training. Like in the rest of the states, the aim of this training is to help reduce business liabilities arising from sexual harassment, discrimination, and conflicts in the workplace.
Who needs to take NYS sexual harassment prevention training?
Both supervisors and employees working in any organization in New York State must take anti-sexual harassment training. It is mandatory in the state for every employer to adopt a sexual harassment prevention policy. Employers are required to provide sexual harassment training to all their employees each year. It applies to all employers in the state of New York regardless of their size.
What are the recent sexual harassment laws in New York State?
As of October 9, 2018, all employers in the state of New York with 15 or more employees are required to provide anti-sexual harassment training to employees and supervisors. In case an employer does not use the model training developed by the New York State Department of Labor and Division of Human Rights, they must make sure that the sexual harassment training that they deploy meets these minimum standards. When does this course start and finish?
This course is self-paced, and is available as soon as you open your account. You can assign the course to your employees anytime, and you can set deadlines for them. The course is always available to you, so you can require employees to take it again or as required by your policy or state. New York Stage requires annual training.
How long do I get the course access?
As long as your account is active, you can access the course. If you cancel your account, you will lose access to the course.
Can I edit the course?
Yes. You have the ability to make changes to the course. If you do make changes, please check Federal and State guidelines to ensure you maintain compliance.
How is the course accessed?
You will be able to administer and manage the course from your ProProfs Training Maker account. You can share the course with your employees using our Classroom feature. Or you may send them an email containing a link to the course if you prefer.
How can I add my company’s harassment policy to the course?
There is a placeholder location in the course where you can add your company’s harassment policy. You can type in, copy and paste or even upload files directly into the training course, including: zip, doc, docx, ppt, pptx, pdf, swf, jpg, png, gif, flv, mp4, mp3, m4v. You can also add your policy to the classroom as a downloadable file.
