The learner will: Be able to recognize that Substance use among healthcare workers can put healthcare workers and their patients at risk.   Be able to recognize the historical focus of drug testing   Be able to recognize the Change in the standard of medical practice for pain management that has resulted in a dramatic growth in the prescription of long-term   Be able to learn the incidence of Substance and alcohol addiction   Be able to increase awareness of the healthcare costs associated with Substance abuse in the United States   Become familiar with the legal  restriction in prohibition of prescription controlled substances by employers   Be able to name three (3) Risk factors for substance abuse among health care workers.   Be able to recall three (3) Physical signs of substance.   Be able to recall three (3) Signs of work impairment in the healthcare setting.   Be able to list at least three (3) Signs to watch for in a suspected impaired nurse.   Be able to describe the framework for patient safety when impairment of a team member is suspected.

The learner will be able to recall three ways that anyone can help a friend or family member who is being abused. The learner will be able to recall three ways that a healthcare provider can help the domestic violence victim to win her case. The learner will have successfully completed this course upon receiving an end-of-course passing quiz score of 75% or higher At the end of this course, and upon successful completion, the learner will achieve four (4) contact hour towards continuing credits and/or renewal of license. The learner will be awarded a certificate of attendance, upon successful completion.
