This sucks! You think to yourself as you watch the boys eat breakfast quietly the next morning. You had walked by their rooms before breakfast and saw their bags neatly packed by their doors. Joe catches your eye across the table and smiles. You smile back, but it’s forced. You’re not naïve enough to assume you’re ever going to really see them again. After all, you’d only spent a day and a half with them, and they didn’t exactly have open schedules. After breakfast, it’s Nick who helps you with the dishes this time. He starts rinsing them while you put them in the dishwasher, not really wanting to say anything because you know where the conversation will end. About half way through the dishes you notice Nick giving you sidelong glances. “What?” You ask. He shakes his head with a smile. “Nothing.” Not really accepting his answer, but not having a choice, you continue at your task. Without warning, you feel water trickle down your back. You cry out and turn to see Nick staring at you with a mischievous smile on his face, and a dripping sponge in his hand.

“What is with you children and water?”

    • B.

“I don’t think you want to start this, Child. I’ll win.”

    • C.

      “Child! That was cold!”

  • 2.
“Child?” He pouts at you. “You make it sound like I’m eight or something.” “Well you’re acting like it,” You answer, with a glare. He thinks about that for a second. “That’s not the point.” He’s about to say more when the phone in his pocket starts to ring. “Hang on.”  You continue to load the rest of the dishes while attempting to not listen in on the one sided conversation. Nick hangs up the phone. “That was my mom.” “Oh,” You say quietly, knowing they were probably on their way. “The bridge is going to be open in about two hours.” You smile at him, then look out the window to see check the weather. “Wanna take the jet skis out before they get here?” Nick’s face brightens, “Yes!” “Yes what?” Joe asks, walking in.“Jet skis,” you answer, quite excited. “But you can’t come, because you’re not old enough to sign my aunts rental agreement, and I only have room for one passenger.” Joe looks sideways at you. “That’s not fair, how come he gets to go?” “Because…” You try to come up with a good excuse. “He’s my favorite.” Nick struck a macho pose for emphasis. You laugh, and shake your head. “I’m just kidding, you guys can switch off, I guess.” “Sweet.” Was Joe’s response. You laugh and wave your hand towards the door. “Go get a swim suit on.” The boys head off to do so while you start up the dishwasher. You meet them down at the docks, in

You toss the keys in the air, catch them again, and smile at the boys. “Alright, who wants to go first?” Nick seems to have rethought the whole idea. “I think this is going to fall under the ‘don’t do anything stupid while on tour’ category.” Joe rolled his eyes. “Apparently, I’m first.” He pats Nick on the back. “It’s not like it’s raining anymore.” You look up at the sky. He had a point, the sun had come out and was drying up the earth quite nicely. You hand Joe a life vest. “Put this on.” He raises an eyebrow at you. “I know how to swim.” “I don’t care, you have to wear it. Even I am.” You climb on to your favorite jet ski, and wave Joe over. He sits behind you and rests his hands on your hips, making your stomach jump slightly. You take Joe in a full circle around the island, doing a few reckless turns just for him as you do. Nearing the dock, you see Nick sitting at the edge, dangling his feet in the water.
    • A.

Aw, poor Nick, he’s all alone.

    • B.

Do I have to make Joe get off?

    • C.

Wait, how did Kevin get left out of this? (he got you all to himself yesterday) oh…

  • 4.
Winking at Nick, you turn your head to Joe, and laugh at his hair covered face. He releases his hold on you to move his hair away. Making the most of the opportunity, you turn sharply, sending your passenger flying into the water. You head over to the dock, laughing with Nick. “He is not happy,” Nick comments, watching his brother swim over. You smile broadly. “Nah, but it was fun. Quick, get on before he gets here.” Nick takes the seats and wraps his arms around you before you speed away. By the time you get back to the dock, you see a large bus pull up to the house. You hear the disappointment in Nick’s voice when he tells you that his parents are there. You park the jet ski, and the three of you head back to the house. You watch the boys greet their parents, before going up to your room to change. You’re sitting on your bed, brushing out your windblown hair when you hear a voice fro the door. “Not even going to say goodbye?"
    • A.

You look up and smile. “I figured you guys would have to leave right away.”

    • B.

Shrugging, you continue to brush your hair. “sorry, I just thought I’d get out of the way.

    • C.

Giving him a sarcastic smirk you reply, “Well, not to you, maybe to your brothers.”
