*The gentle rocking of the boat lulls you into a relaxed state, the steady splash of ocean waves against the smooth wood nearly hypnotic. As the island comes into view, your half lidded eyes skip over the distant, richly built village with a sense of relief. This is home, an undeniable haven of souls as different as they are the same. Not everyone gets along, but there is a deep seeded air of acceptance among the Court's members that has earned your respect, even your loyalty.   When the tiny skiff grounds itself, you leap gracefully to the beach. Sand shifts beneath your armored feet as you land, still warm from the passing day. The crunch of it as you walk is jarring, too loud in the unnatural silence. The abandoned scene can only mean one thing: trouble in the village.   Resigned and oddly excited, you grab your pack from beneath the boat's bench, slinging it over your shoulder. Trouble isn't unusual, and it can often lead to excitement. You ponder the possibility of what you might encounter, lips curling into a near greedy grin. It could be a new shipment of slaves, or a bloodbath. No doubt your coterie has enough enemies, it's only a matter of time before one of them tries for an attack.   Rushing over the uneven beach, you make a stop at the stables. It would be convenient if you could have flown in, but accept that it's forbidden as a safety measure. Spells have been put in place which make it impossible, and so you left your talbuk here in preparation for the ride home. Releasing your trusted companion from his stall, you mount quickly and spur him onwards!   Upon reaching the Court, you see the familiar faces of your guild gathered. They have someone strapped to a table, his face bloodied and bruised. One eye is nearly swollen shut, and blood drips from a wound on his side in a steady copper scented river. He's close to death.   A warlock sneers down at him, robes rippling around their fel polluted figure as if from an unnatural wind. Without hesitation, they hiss an order.  "Burn him." The sudden rush of violet light is a dead give away, the demon monger ripping the man's essence free to store it within a conjured stone. "Search his house. I know he's hiding what I seek. When we've found it heal his body and we'll return his soul."   You.....*
