The Massachusetts leaner's permit test is a computer generated, multiple choice test lasting a maximum of 25 minutes. Students must answer at least 18 out of 25 questions correctly to pass the test. That would be a 72%, or no more than 7 wrong. The best way to study for the test is to read and study the Driver's Manual, which is available at RMV branches and online at Especially focus on road signs, right of way rules, traffic laws, safety issues (helmet law, seat belt law, speed limits, etc.) and numbers (fines, suspension periods, distances, etc.) Pay close attention to anything listed in chart form. After studying, you can use this test to see how well you remember what you studied and how well prepared you are for the test. This practice test draws its questions randomly from a database of hundreds of questions. Like the RMV test, you could get easy questions or difficult questions -- it's completely random. However, if you really want to prepare well for the test, you should try this practice test multiple times. Every time it will be different, giving you a better sense of the range of questions you could be asked. Good luck!
