Mandated Reporter And Sexual Misconduct Reporting Quiz

Counselors and Administrators are the only mandated reporters in your school.          

Mandated Reporters have 36 hours to report abuse.                    

If a student feels that they have been the victim of an act of sexual abuse, the allegation must be made by the student in writing to the principal.                                         

The law states that administrators have up to 24 hours to make an oral report of sexual abuse or misconduct of a student by a teacher, administrator or other employee.                                          

I do not have to make a report of a violation of the standards in the Professional Code of Ethics for Educators.            

.  I do not have to report child neglect to a child welfare agency providing protective services, as it is not covered under O.C.G.A. 19-7-5                                                            

I can report a violation to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission anonymously.

If you make a report of child abuse in good faith, you cannot be sued.        

If a child discloses to you, it is okay to ask if they are telling the truth.

Two physical misconduct clues of child sex offenders are:  they hold a child, even if the child resists and they spend more time with children than with people their own age.                

Two verbal or electronic misconduct clues of child sex offenders are:   they make fun of children’s body parts and they talk repeatedly about the sexual activities of students.                                                 

Sexual interaction between consenting adults on school grounds is permissible, as long as students are not present.                                                                        

It is a good idea to hold teacher student conferences with the door shut to avoid interruptions and distractions.
