Just for fun, take the quiz and see how 'crunchy' your family is!
Absolutely not! That shouldn't be legal anyways...pass the Pitocin and call my OB! I'm ready for my epidural...
I don't mind if others do, but it doesn't work for me. I'm most comfortable with my Midwife at the hospital.
I'm not comfortable with hospitals, but a homebirth isn't for me. I'm voting for a birth center...it's the best of both worlds.
I'll happily have my baby at home with a midwife. Isn't that how it's been done for hundreds of years? Why mess with perfection?
An unassisted homebirth is the ONLY option I'll consider!
What do you mean? All little boys are circumcised right after birth. My doctor says they don't really feel any pain, besides...I want him to look like his dad!
We'll probably circumcise. I don't see what the big deal is.
I don't recommend it, but I don't have strong feelings about it.
It's forceable body modification of a trusting infant, and it should be illegal on an international level.
Of course! They make great spit rags!
No cloth diapers for us. While it's a great idea, it's a bit too labor intensive.
Some moms at my playgroup use cloth, and I've thought about it. Maybe with my next baby we'll give it a try, especially with those great diaper services these days!
We use cloth and 'sposies, depending on the circumstances. And of course we wash our own...what else would we do with them?
I sew and wash all the diapers for my kids. My children have NEVER been in a disposable, and they never will!
Every child has their own bed or crib in their own room, and DH and I have ours. The only time I got nervous was when the baby monitor's batteries were low. It's important they learn to be independent!
Babies belong near their mamas, so we use a sidecar sleeper or a crib in the master bedroom until they are old enough for a 'big kid bed'. We lay down with our older kids in their beds until they fall asleep. Then we relax in our room...peace at last!
Babies sleep better near their parents, and as they get older it's hard to convince them to head to their own rooms. Still though, elementary is old enough to be sleeping independently.
We co-sleep (or will) from day one, and we don't stop until our child shows an interest in leaving the family bed.
Wall to wall mattresses are the style for our only family bedroom! Sleep is a team effort, and DTD takes creativity we'd never imagined. But it works for us!
What's MDC?
I've been there a few times. Interesting...to say the least!
I love reading through the forums, and I've toyed with participating, but it's still a learning experience.
I post and read pretty regularly, it's a great site with a lot of information...some works for me, and some doesn't.
I am a self acknowledged MDC addict. I read and post several times daily. I know what a UAV is, I've memorized the smiley tags, and I'm either a senior member (who has/has not been banned) or aspiring to be one VERY soon.
I got some GREAT samples from the hospital, and the coupons came in the mail a week later! What a lifesaver!
Breastfeeding for the first few weeks is fine, but if it doesn't work out then formula is just as good.
Breastfeeding for at least six months is important. After that it's not as critical.
Babies need mom's milk from day one, and for as long as they'd like to have it!
Public or Private School
Structured Homeschooling: Standardized curriculum and routine school days
Eclectic Homeschooling: Most days fairly structured with a mix of curriculum
Unschooling: For the most part, my child leads the way on our learning adventures!
Radical Unschooling: Totally hands off learning is the only way for me!
They should be on a bottle by 3 months, and off the bottle by 12.
Weaned by 6 months
Weaned by 1-2 years
Child led weaning, probably around 2-4 years
My child will let me know when they are ready to wean, even if they are in elementary school.
This is why our doctor has a 24 hour nurses line. We'll probably need antibiotics.
I'll wait a day or so, try some chicken soup, and then call the doctor.
We'll try some echinacea and some herbal teas from the store first. But probably head to the chiropractor or the doctor if it gets serious.
We treat illness from a whole body perspective. While we won't rule out doctors, they are a last resort and only after giving our body ample chance to heal through nutrition and exercise.
We'll heal at home, like always! We don't even HAVE a doctor!
Pro Vax, hands down.
We vax, but I can see why some families don't.
Selective Vax
No vax, but I can see why some families do
No vax, and the doctors/pharmaceutical companies should be held accountable for the lies they spread about these damaging drugs.
I re-use our water bottles at least once before throwing them away. Oh! And we bought a spiral light bulb!
We use curb recycling and we try to cut down on household waste. Everyone does what they can!
We have combed our house and found ways to make it more environmentally conscious. We buy green cleaning supplies, take shorter showers, turn our heat down and our AC up, and we 'selective flush'.
We use a woodstove, recycle as much as possible, make our own cleaning supplies, and walk/bike wherever we can.
We're TOTALLY off the grid baby!
Two words: James Dobson
It's a benevolent dictatorship
I'm in charge, but occassionally we try to be more laid back.
Gentle Discipline all the way. Hands are not for hitting, and loving structure with positive reinforcement is the ideal we strive for.
There are no rules, and everyone is equal. I'm just as likely to get into trouble as my kids are to catch me at it!
